You have TWO lessons to do some research on genetic engineering. Choose a topic and produce a report.

1. How bacteriophage vectors are used to genetically modifiy bacteria. Give examples of making use of genetical modified bacteria (pages 237, 238, 239). Include advantages and disadvantages.

2. How genetically modified plants are produced using Agrobacterium. Give examples (pages 239, 240,2 41) Include advantages and disadvantages.


3. How genetically modified animals are produced and some examples (pages 242,243) Include advantages and disadvantages.

1. Each person chooses a drug.



2. Each person will conduct research on that drug. Make notes in response to the following questions:

Ø How is it used?

Ø What are the common side effects?

Ø What are the symptoms of overdose?

Ø Is this drug addictive?

Ø What are the withdrawal symptoms?

Ø What are the short-term effects?

Ø What are the long-term effects?

Ø What is the federal classification?

Ø List at least 5 myths and 5 facts about the drug.



3. While conducting research, find at least three other facts, which you believe, is important information for a teenager to understand about the drug.

4. Make an A4 sized poster to inform your classmates, we will make a display.
